Two years after making their official debut as a K-pop girl group under JYP Entertainment in 2015, the name Twice became really big and gained a lot of popularity from both their fans Once and the general public. With that opportunity, JYP Entertainment as the agency planned to spread their wings into Japan by released Twice’s 1st compilation extended play titled WHAT’S TWICE on February 24th, 2017, under Warner Music Japan. The EP consists of four hit songs from Twice’s previous EPs: “Like OOH-AHH” from the first EP titled The Story Begins (2015), “Cheer Up” and “Touchdown” from the second EP titled Page Two (2016), and “TT” from the third EP titled Twicecoaster: Lane 1 (2016).

Story Behind What’s Twice by Twice

Prior to Twice’s Japanese debut on June 28th, 2017, Twice released their first compilation extended play WHAT’S TWICE, which was released by Warner Music Japan on February 24th, 2017. It was only four days after JYP Entertainment released the reissue EP of Twice’s 3rd EP Twicecoaster: Line 1, on February 20th, 2017, titled Twicecoaster: Lane 2, with “Knock Knock” as the lead single. The release of this compilation EP on February 24th, 2017, was meant to be a promotional tool as JYP Entertainment announced Twice’s Japanese debut that was set to take place in June 2017. “TT” by Twice was one of their popular songs that has gained 600,473,559 views and 4,584,453 likes since it was first released and uploaded on JYP Entertainment’s Official YouTube Account on October 23rd, 2016. All four of the songs included in this compilation extended play were written and composed by Black Eyed Pilseung and Sam Lewis, with Rado as the one who did the arrangement. And all four songs were recorded in 2015 and 2016 with J. Y. Park “The Asiansoul” as the producer. K-pop and dance are the genres of all four songs.
