Dita is the first female idol from Indonesia who made a debut as a K-pop idol in Korea. Dita can speak four languages: Indonesian, English, Javanese, and Korean. When Dita was in high school, she was the leader of the Indonesian Youth Basketball Team (DBL) dance club called Evanore. The club often won in dance competitions since Dita was a very good leader. Since Dita had been living abroad for around 3 years in New York, she could quickly adapt to Korean culture. Dita has been studying dance in 1 Million Dance Studio. Dita has been training for around 2 years. Dita started to like K-pop when she was in college. She likes 2NE1 and has done cover dances of 2NE1’s songs. She also started to dream of being a singer after seeing 2NE1 on stage.

We know that every K-pop idol has an interesting story to tell before they made a debut as a K-pop idol. Even the idol that we know from this group, was almost meant to debut in another group. Well, just like a lot of things in life, K-pop also has something that is called destiny. So, what’s the destiny that took Dita, a girl from Indonesia, to be a K-pop idol? Instead of just wondering, let’s see the pre-debut story of Dita from Secret Number! As you have seen from her profile, Dita was born with the name Anak Agung Ayu Puspa Aditya Karang. You can just call her Dita or Dita Karang for short. You might be thinking that Dita’s name is peculiar. That’s because Dita’s father is from Bali. Yep, Bali, the beautiful island from Indonesia that is popular for its natural scenery. Dita is just as pretty as Bali. But she is just half Balinese because her mother is a Javanese, another island in Indonesia. Even though Dita has Bali descent, she was born and raised in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It is the hometown of her mother’s family. Dita lived there along with her parents and her older sister. Since she was young, Dita has been learning to dance. Dita started to dance when she was five years old. At that time, she learned the traditional dance of Bali, she also learned to dance ballet. Not only Dita, but her sister dances too. Seems like Dita was born in a family that supports her with her passion for dancing. When she was in school, Dita performed on a lot of dance stages. Dita feels joy every time she dances, she really likes the feeling she has when performing for the crowds. This made her think that she would be dancing for her whole life. That’s the reason that made her apply for the dance department in AMDA, New York, the United States after she graduated from high school. At that time, K-pop had already become popular even in the States. Dita and her friends started to do dance covers of K-pop songs. Dita who hadn’t even thought of becoming a K-pop idol started to enjoy the feel every time she would dance to a K-pop song. Until, finally, Dita went to audition for a K-pop agency. She tried the big 3 companies among the K-pop agencies, which are SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, and YG Entertainment. However, Dita’s destiny was not among them. But Dita didn’t give up. She tried to join other auditions for other K-pop agencies, until, finally, she was accepted in a K-pop agency called Vine Entertainment, the agency that later on enabled her debut as a member of a K-pop girl group. There, Dita met her fellow trainees, among which is Lea. She is from Japan. Both Lea and Dita weren’t fluent in Korean at that time, so they couldn’t really talk much the first time they met even though they had to spend a lot of time together. Even so, Dita and other foreign trainees learned Korean in the next two years and they finally got closer to each other since there was no longer a language barrier. Later on, other trainees joined the company and the time came for Dita to prepare for the upcoming girl group from Vine Entertainment.

Dita’s journey to be a K-pop idol probably wasn’t expected by anyone including her. She could be a traditional dancer, a ballerina, a performer of any other dance, but she ended up in K-pop. It’s not that it’s not good for her, in fact, she learned a lot as a trainee and became an amazing main dancer in her group. Dita made her official debut as a K-pop idol in May 2020. Even before the debut date, Vine Entertainment had released an announcement about their new girl group. The members’ faces also had been revealed before. The line-up consists of Léa, Dita, Jinny, Soodam, and Denise.
