Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, Sam Burns is an American professional golfer whose first season on the PGA Tour was in 2019. Sam’s 2021 season got off to a great start, with a 3rd place finish at the Genesis Invitational, where he tied the 36-hole record with a score of 64-66, and T7 finishes at the Safeway Open and Vivint Houston Open. In each tournament, Sam held leads after the second round, as well as after the third round of the Houston Open. Sam notched his first PGA Tour victory at the 2021 Valspar Championship, finishing at an impressive 17-under par and winning by 3 strokes. He grabbed a share of the lead after shooting an 8-under 63 in round 2. Sam played very well throughout the 2020 season and qualified for the FedEx Cup Playoffs for the second year in a row, buttressed by five top-25s.
