He has always been a sports junkie who throughout his childhood used to play all kinds of sports. His parents always encouraged him to play sports, but on one condition that if his grades will decrease, he will have to stop playing sports, and he never let it happen throughout his studies. He used to be a mischievous yet reserved as a kid. His father used to be the secretary of his school, and he took it for granted by taking certain advantage such as by colouring his hair, wearing casual shoes, etc. He belongs to a middle-class Mangalorean family with background in teaching. Rahul’s father was a big fan of Sunil Gavaskar and mixed the name of his son Rohan as Rahul and hence called his son Rahul. He always used to be a roguish yet reserved as a child. KL Rahul’s father used to be the administrator of his school, and he always took it for granted by way of taking certain benefits like wearing casual shoes, colouring his hair etc. In his premature professional days in cricket, he desired to grow long hair though his trainer advised him that you can have long hair after attaining some particular things in your cricket career. He considers Rahul Dravid as his idol of cricket. His father is a big fan of Sunil Gavaskar, so he wanted to name his son after the name of Sunil Gavaskar’s son i.e. Rohan Gavaskar, but goofed Rohan as Rahul. In the Under-13 Inter-zonal tournament, Rahul hit two double centuries for his team. He is the first Indian batsman to be hit-wicket in T20Is. KL Rahul is a tattoo lover. He idolizes Rahul Dravid. Rahul holds the record for being the fastest batsman who has scored centuries in all three formats of cricket. Lokesh and Rajeshwari in Mangalore; his father Lokesh is a professor and former director at the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) in the city and his mother Rajeshwari is a professor at Mangalore University. Lokesh, who was a fan of the cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, wanted to name his son after Gavaskar’s, but mistook Rohan Gavaskar’s name as Rahul. Rahul grew up in Mangalore, completing his high school at NITK English Medium School and pre-university at St. Aloysius College. He started cricket training at the age of 10, and, two years later, started playing matches for both Bangalore United Cricket Club and his club in Mangalore. At age 18 he moved to Bangalore to study at Jain University and pursue his cricket career.
