Kay Mellor was an award-winning scriptwriter, director and actress, most famous for her highly-acclaimed television series Band of Gold, Playing the Field and Fat Friends. She also co-created Children’s Ward with Paul Abbott. Kay wrote only one episode of Coronation Street – Episode 2833 (23rd May 1988) – however she was also a storyliner for 10 episodes broadcast in December 1986 and from June to July 1987.
