Pledis Entertainment was founded by Han Sung-soo in 2007. He was former manager of the original Korean idol, BoA at SM Entertainment. Son Dam-bi, singer and sexy symbol was the first artist to debut under Pledis Entertainment. Pledis Entertainment formed its first girl group, After School, in January 2009. The company teamed up with Fantagio to form another girl group, Hello Venus, in 2012. NU’EST and Seventeen are currently Pledis Entertainment’s most popular artists. Audition History
Pledis Entertainment held its first global audition in 2017. There was no limitation on gender, nationality, and age during the audition. The company set the audition on several fields such as vocal, rap, dance, acting, and modeling. The 2017 Global Audition 1 was held in 8 major cities in Asia and the USA. The audition started in Bangkok on August 6th, 2017, and ended in Seattle on August 3rd, 2017. The 2017 Global Audition 2 was held in 4 Asian cities. It started in Kuala Lumpur on September 11th and ended in Taipei on September 30th. The audition also took place in Jakarta on September 24th and Singapore on September 28th. Pledis started monthly auditions on July 22nd, 2018. The auditions took place at Pledis’ headquarters every two months until December 2018. In between the monthly auditions, Pledis held the 2018 global audition in Taiwan and Japan. In 2019, Pledis Entertainment transformed its monthly audition into Pledis’ Wonder Teen Audition. Since January 2019, series of auditions were held across Korea. Since March 2019, Pledis Entertainment set the Wonder Teens monthly audition. In 2020, the Wonder Teens audition is scheduled at Gwangju, Busan, Jeju, and Seoul. Only male participants born after 2003 are eligible to apply.
